Wasn’t LinkedIn supposed to be just your online resume and, later, a decent job portal? When did it become the alternate social media platform to share your work-related cringe? Showing off Welcome Kits and rubbing promotions and new jobs in other people’s faces. Why can’t people stop degrading any public platform into a shitshow? Recently, I saw a gentleman trying to earn social credit using a young person’s death because of an inhuman work culture. Of course, he RIPed her. Now, her soul can indeed be at peace.
Why can’t people keep their thoughts to themselves or, like me, vomit them in a dedicated corner of the internet? At least the visitors will know that they are going to step into vomit, rather than vomit being projected in their faces when they just wanted to check their LinkedIn messages because they got an email from LinkedIn that somebody messaged them. Every time I go on LinkedIn, I have to wade through the cesspool to go to my profile or the page I came to visit.
Genuine posts like Looking for a job get drowned in hordes of Handwritten notes to crack Google SWE interviews and lame and empty ego-massaging posts by CEOs. Just carry on with your Google job (assuming you got in using your Handwritten notes) and running your company, man. Why do you have to post about it? The time you spend on LinkedIn can be used to improve your skills. But who wants skills when they can get a better-paying job by gaining LinkedIn points?
Everybody needs to be an influencer now to get a job. I don’t know how that makes somebody good at their job. But I am overthinking. Nobody has time to think that much now. Just see the reel and bugger off. Skills can go to hell…or Pakistan. Everything is about your unique personal brand. Your brand is more important than you.
I guess that’s what humans do. They ruin everything they get access to. Be it Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, or the planet itself. Game Theory has studied and proved it. It’s called, aptly, the *Tragedy of the Commons.* Destruction is our equilibrium. Nothing else can explain the state of the planet, the wars in the world, and deeply broken families. Ruin is common from the micro level to the macro level. People are just angry and violent most of the time. Because that is the easy way to deal with their emotions, as opposed to sitting and trying to solve their issues. Their conscience won’t let them handle the sins they have committed, the people they have hurt, and the emotional violence they do on a regular basis. They will earn more and get that bigger car, the latest phone and a bigger house. Life is nothing but running away from your guilt. You just make your own games to distract yourself so the guilt does not kill you. Why do you want a seven-seater SUV to go to the office alone? And why do you need those three-and-a-half bedrooms when you and your wife are not even on talking terms? Having that kid didn’t help, did it? But, I overthink again. Of course, it’s better to drive around with your unresolved issues in that swanky full-size SUV — than that old clunky hatchback. And none of that compact SUV bullshit either, no sir. And why do we have a gazillion sub-categories in SUVs? But that’s another rant for another time. That hatch was just the gateway car. And that 2BHK was just a temporary stay till you could gather the down payment.
