All of humanity's problems stem from man's inability to sit quietly in a room alone. - Blaise Pascal

It is hard to just sit with your thoughts and do nothing. No distractions. Smartphone has eliminated boredom. But just being with yourself is one of the best uses of your time. It can help you deal with the constant low-level, deep-rooted existential anxiety. You never listen to your thoughts. You quieten them with reels. You never let them come to the surface. Life can be much better and more peaceful if you just sit and be with your thoughts. Your priorities will change. You will realize that more money, promotion, a bigger car, and a bigger house is not the answer. That you don’t need to be a part of so many races. That you don’t need the latest iPhone. It will not give you what you really want. It will not bring you happiness or contentment.

Even meditation is sitting and doing something - focusing on your breath or repeating some mantra, etc. The agenda is always there. Whatever was needed to be done is done. The feature you are working on won’t add any real value to the world. It will just keep the wheel of capitalism rolling. You don’t need to be a consumer all the time. You can just stop and be. It’s ironic that Gurus are also selling pulses along with enlightenment. After all, you have to get them - pulses and enlightenment - from somewhere. Why not optimize and get them from the same place? After all, it’s all about optimization and productivity. How you can achieve more by cramming your calendar that it spills outside the boundary of life. You don’t need a mental health routine. Just walk to a park, sit there, and come back. It will help you live in the present. And when that happens, you automatically get happier and more content.
